The traditional avenues of marketing and advertising were sufficient across commodities till the recent past. These were limited to newspaper advertisements, posters, distributing of leaflets etc. But digital mode of marketing is entering the field and is gaining ground speedily. 

As one has to acquire the necessary skills in order to market one's own products or services, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal has initiated a course on Digital Marketing. In order to create awareness about the course, the University recently organized a workshop in its Salt Lake Campus. The faculties and representatives from various colleges participated in the workshop, which informed them about the advantages of digitization.

The workshop on International and Digital Marketing has been organized by MAKAUT in association with Cambridge Marketing College, UK. 

The programme was conducted by Prof. Nandan Sengupta, College Ambassador for India, Cambridge Marketing College, Cambridge, UK. Prof. Nandan Sengupta has wide experience in cross-cultural interactions having been associated with multinational companies from the U.S.A, Canada, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Japan, Australia and India. His specialization is B2B, Customer relationship, Digital marketing and Marketing technologies. He is also a marketing consultant.

The Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT Prof. Dr. Saikat Maitra is of the opinion that, the course on Digital Marketing will help the students in choosing their right career in future.  MAKAUT wants to guide them in this path and enhance their employability, with the help of its international partners. As digitization has entered almost every sphere of marketing, such courses will certainly help the students, if they undertake their own start-up initiatives.


Prof. Atanu Ghosh, a start-up entrepreneur and an expert in Digital Marketing also gave his valuable insights in the workshop. He specializes in the areas of IT, ERP, Digital Media, Analytics etc.

Prof. Ghosh is an Electrical Engineer from Jadavpur University and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.


He promoted, founded and mentored various start-ups, which are now in the path of global expansion. He is a Guest Faculty in areas of ERP, E-Commerce and Digital Marketing in leading academic institutions like IIM Calcutta, XLRI Jamshedpur, Praxis Kolkata.

In a nutshell, the workshop organized by MAKAUT conveyed various aspects of Digital Marketing and its applications before the participants.
